The perfect board gets a name: Wyld Pyle
The 20-point bonus for completing all eight words has been called "Full Wyld" since the first version of the game. From today it is the Wyld Pyle, and it comes with a celebration worthy of the name.
Why rename it
"Full Wyld" was a placeholder that stuck. It described the achievement accurately but it never sounded like anything, and in testing people kept calling it different things: full board, perfect board, the bonus. A game's central goal deserves a name people actually use.
Wyld Pyle came out of a long list. It rhymes with the game's name, it sounds like something you would want to have, and a pile of tiles is literally what a completed board is. The stat on your profile, the leaderboard column, and the score screen all use the new name now. Your existing Full Wylds have been counted as Wyld Pyles; nothing was lost in the rename.
The celebration
Completing a board used to show a line of text on the score screen. It now triggers a short animation over the board, and if you are playing a free game, the end-of-game advertisement waits until the celebration finishes rather than cutting across it. It felt wrong to interrupt the best moment in the game with a banner.
Accessibility work
A few days before the rename we shipped a round of changes aimed at players using screen readers, keyboard navigation, or high-contrast settings:
- Valid words now show a check-mark as well as a colour change, so the cue does not depend on being able to see green.
- Every control on the board is focusable and labelled. The wild tile in your bank announces itself as a wild tile rather than as a glowing star emoji.
- Animations respect the system reduced-motion setting, and focus rings and contrast were tightened throughout.
Automatic dark mode
The new System theme follows your device's light or dark appearance and switches when it does. It sits alongside the existing Classic, Neon, and Minimal themes in your profile, and it is the default for new players.
