Achievements, and eleven new avatars to earn
WyldTyle now has achievements: eleven goals that run from a first daily win over Tyler to a month of mornings in a row. Each one unlocks a new avatar, drawn in the same style as the twenty you could already choose from.
Games you've already played count
Achievements are worked out from your game history, not from the day they arrived. If you scored a Wyld Pyle in September, First Pyle is already yours. The first time you open WyldTyle after this update, a summary shows everything you had earned, and the new avatars are ready to pick on your profile.
From then on, an achievement announces itself the moment a game unlocks it. If you score a Wyld Pyle, the celebration plays first and the achievement follows.
The eleven achievements
- Beat the Bot: finish a daily run with a higher total than Tyler, the bot that plays every daily board first.
- Triple Threat: clear all three levels of a daily challenge. Levels 1 and 2 each have a minimum score to pass, so this is harder than it sounds on a tough board.
- First Pyle: score a Wyld Pyle, with all eight words valid.
- Clean Sweep: clear a daily challenge with every word valid on all three levels.
- Week Warrior: play the daily challenge seven days in a row.
- Wordsmith: score 20 points or more with a single word. Long words with K, V, or a well-placed high-value letter are the way there; see the best seven-letter words.
- High Roller: score 90 or more on a full board.
- Pyle Driver: score ten Wyld Pyles.
- Century: finish 100 games. Each daily level counts as a game.
- Social Butterfly: win ten multiplayer matches.
- Month of Mornings: play the daily challenge thirty days in a row. Nobody has done this yet.
The targets were set from how people actually play. About half of active players have beaten Tyler at least once; only a handful have scored ten Wyld Pyles. Your profile's new Achievements tab shows how close you are to each one.
Earned, not bought
Achievement avatars can't be bought, and WyldTyle Pro doesn't unlock them. Pro remains what it was: no ads. Guests can play for them too: if a guest game would have unlocked something, the score screen says so, and creating a free account keeps the games that earned it.
